ABOUT ME

MELANIE MATHEW, flutist, holds both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Flute Performance from the Indiana University School of Music where she studied with Carol Wincenc, Peter Lloyd, and Kathryn Lukas.  She has appeared as a recitalist throughout the Midwest, as well as in New York and in Spain as part of a concert series dedicated to promoting young artists.  Additional teachers include Jeanne Baxtresser, Trevor Wye, James Walker and Jaques Zoon.

As an orchestral flutist, Melanie has performed with the Fox Valley Orchestra, the DuPage Symphony Orchestra, the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonietta Bel Canto, and the Seville Symphony Orchestra on their annual tour of Spain.  She has appeared as soloist with the DuPage Symphony Orchestra and the Illinois Valley Community College Wind Ensemble and in recital as part of a concert series presented at the First Baptist Church in the City of New York.  She currently resides in the western suburbs of Chicago where she teaches privately and is a member of the Fox Valley Orchestra and the DuPage Symphony Orchestra.
