Studio Policy

The lesson fee is $28.00 per 30-minute weekly lesson, payable monthly on or before the first lesson of each month. Check or cash is accepted. No refunds or credits will be given for missed lessons. In the event that there is an unavoidable conflict with a student’s regular lesson time, a make up lesson will be scheduled.

24-hour notice of lesson cancellation is appreciated. Make up lessons will be scheduled based on availability. Make up lessons will not be offered for lessons missed without prior notification.

While not required, lessons will be offered during Winter and Spring Breaks. There will be no lessons December 24-26 and December 31 – January 1. Other holidays observed include: Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Memorial Day and July 4.

In order to benefit most from their lessons, students should arrive on time and bring their instrument, music and any other necessary materials.

Home practice is critical to students’ progress. Lesson preparation should receive as much priority as homework for any other class. A minimum of thirty minutes per day, six days per week is generally necessary for beginning-intermediate level students. A minimum of sixty minutes daily practice is recommended for intermediate-advanced level students.

As students progress, they will periodically need to purchase new music and method books. One of the best resources for new flute music and recordings is Flute World. Materials can be ordered from Flute World on their website (www.fluteworld.com) or by phone (248-855-0410). A graded flute music catalog is available upon request.
