Philosophy

All lessons are given in the spirit of cultivating a lifelong love of music and enjoyment of flute playing. Emphasis is given to developing the skills needed to become successful not only as a flutist, but a well-rounded musician. My desire for all my students is that they are not only able to master particular pieces of music, but that they have all the tools they need in order to successfully play any music they choose. As my students eventually grow and graduate from high school, they need to know how to become their own teachers. If I am able to give them the skills they need to do that, then my teaching has been in large part a success.
